DJ Technics began her musical journey at the early age of 12, inspired by the music that filled her family home on weekends. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everton and Rosalie Douglin, often hosted gatherings to celebrate birthdays, play dominoes, and enjoy good food, cake, and music. Those family moments, rich with love and laughter, laid the foundation for her deep appreciation of music.

Accompanying her mother to the market, she would often spend her pocket money on records—turning her curiosity and passion into a growing music collection. Her mother’s encouragement and shared love for good music inspired her to become both a dedicated collector and performer.

As a talented musician, DJ Technics excelled in school, earning certificates of achievement in brass instruments, drums, and her lifelong passion—the steel drums. Her gift for playing steel pan has taken her around the world, including recent performances for Black History Month. Over the years, she has performed alongside renowned artists such as Maxi Priest, Julianne Elisha Levern, and Machel Montano of Trinidad and Tobago’s Traffic, as well as legendary steelbands led by Junice Dean, Gerald Forsyth, and Francis Johnson of Steel Survival.

Her journey through music also includes performing on Carnival floats and playing frontline with her sister, Jacqui, for Lambeth Youth. She extends special thanks to Youstus Tony Charles from Nostalgia, Welly, and Joe for their mentorship and commitment to her family’s trust. Their guidance led her through steelbands like Eclipse (Tottenham), Metronomes, Mangrove, and Glissandos, where she also served as DJ.

DJ Technics pays heartfelt tribute to her family and to the late Mr. Ken “Professor” Philmore, a musical genius, arranger, and woman of God who inspired her deeply. Her show reflects her faith and belief that “God is always with you throughout every journey.”

Known to many from SLR Radio FM, Supreme Radio, DJ Goodgroove, and King David Radio, DJ Technics continues to share her gift and testimony through music—always giving glory to God and inspiring others to rise, shine, and celebrate life through sound.
